To search records in the Manager Portal, enter search terms in the Search bar at the top of the page. The search terms can consist of words or pharases as well as specification of the fields in which to search. For example, to do a simple search for records that contain the word "zipper" anywhere in any of the record's fields, you can enter that word in the search bar and hit Enter to begin the search. If you want to search for records that contain the word "zipper" or "zip" or "zippers", you can either join these three words with a special operator "OR" (all caps) like this "(zipper) OR (zip) OR (zippers)" or use a wildcard symbol "*" like this "(zip*)." The latter will find other records containing variants such as "zipping", "zipped", etc.
If you want to search only inside specific fields (called facets) such as Gender, Age, Important, Summary, dressing ability, bathing challenges, or some other available field, you will need to add the field name to the query like this: "(summary:zip*) OR (important:zip*)." A useful query to remember is to search for a specific profile ID like this: "(id:1a1195)" - this query will find a single record for profile 1a1195.
The MnSTAR database contains a special numeric field called "age." To search records by age alone, you can specify the age field like this "(age:65)" or an age range like this "(age:>65) AND (age:<75)". The former query will only find records of 65 year olds. The latter will find records of profiles between 66 and 74.
To review the information in an individual synthetic profile, just click on one of the rectangles with ID/Age/Gender information at the top that represent the search results. Keep in mind that the search may result in multiple pages of results with up to 10 profiles displayed on each page. You can navigate the pages by clicking on PREV and NEXT PAGE buttons in the top and bottom navigation bars. Once you click on an individual profile, you will see a preview of the profile like this:
To view the entire profile, you can scroll up or down with the scroll bar on the right of the window or with your mouse. At this point, you will be able to do three things with the profile being viewed - a. close it and return to search results by clicking the CLOSE button, b. conduct a conversation with the profile by clicking on the SELECT TO CHAT button, c. edit the profile's fields to alter the chatbot's behavior by clicking the EDIT button
Once you click on the EDIT button, you will see the same profile in the Editor interface. Keep in mind that any changes you make in this interface will become permanent after you hit the Submit button next to each field.
Once you are done editing, close the Editor by clicking on the CLOSE button and then remember to refresh the search interface by hitting the browser's referesh button to see the changes. Note: once the record is modified, the search engine will reindex the collection, so you will NOT see this record in the same place in search results - instead, you will need to search for it with the profile ID or the text of the modifications you made if you want to chat with that profile.
To chat with the selected profile, you can either select a profile after a search and then hit the SELECT TO CHAT button in the preview window, or you can copy the profile ID and then go to the Home screem and Assessor Portal and search for that ID there. Once you see the chat window, you can begin the chat by typing a question in the text box that says "Type your message..." and click the Send button to send your qyestion/message to the chatbot. The chat itself will appear in the window just above the input text box and the Send button.
